As part of the EDU-ACT – Educational initiative aiming to combat violence, racism, discrimination, intolerance and violent radicalization in sport project, SPORT VIV implemented educational and sport activities for children in Samobor, Croatia.

The activities were carried out within Work Package 3 – Capacity building, with the aim of raising awareness among children aged 10–14 about fair play, respect, inclusion, tolerance, non-violent communication and non-discrimination in sport. Through sport games, teamwork, cooperation and guided reflection, children learned how to recognise unfair behaviour, bullying, discrimination, racism and intolerance, and how to react to them in a safe and constructive way.

A total of 100 children participated in the activities, including 49 girls and 51 boys. The activities were facilitated by educated PE teachers / kinesiology students, with mentoring and support from the SPORT VIV project team.

The programme enabled children to develop communication, teamwork, empathy, respect for rules and acceptance of differences through sport. Special attention was given to ensuring that sport is experienced as a safe and inclusive environment where every child can participate, regardless of gender, abilities, background or previous sport experience.

The implemented activities contributed to the objectives of the EDU-ACT project, especially by strengthening children’s awareness of the prevention of violence, racism, discrimination, intolerance and violent radicalisation in grassroots sport.
